Providing Positive Environments
The Family Child Care (FCC) program is offered for base personnel who wish to provide child care in their home. The FCC Coordinator recruits, trains, inspects and recommends licensing of providers. After they have been licensed, providers can develop a contract with parents to determine child care needs and establish fees. The FCC Coordinator continues to support providers with training, an extensive free lending library of supplies, plus equipment and technical support in filling out necessary paperwork. If you are interested in becoming a licensed child care provider and want to find out if you're eligible, give us a call or stop by the FCC office.

Extended Duty Care
The Air Force has contracted two Family Child Care (FCC) providers to provide care for families that have children presently enrolled in Youth Flight Programs schedule to work extended duty hours. The program is designed to assist families working extended duty hours, beyond the standard 50 hours of care.
The Extended Child Care program is administered through the Family Member Program Flight. The Coordinator will ensure child care providers are screened, trained and licensed. The FCC Coordinator also monitors the homes and conducts unannounced inspections during the extended hours of operation.

Interested in becoming a Child Care Provider?
Prospective Family Child Care providers can submit AF Form 1928, Family Child Care License Application and complete pre-licensing requirements and orientation. Call 606-3255 for more information and for the next orientation class dates.

PCS Care
A new program to benefit family stress from a PCS move has been made available through the Air Force Aid Society and Family Child Care. AFAS will pay up to 20 hours of child care (per child) in certified FCC homes on base. Families may receive a certificate when departing and arriving at Vandenberg AFB.
Families with PCS orders are eligible to receive a "Child Care for PCS Certificate" from the Family Support Center for use within 60 days of departure or arrival. The program is open to all ranks who may not be able to afford the additional expense of child care at a time when finances are already strained.

Volunteer Care Program
The Family Child Care office in coordination with the Air Force Aid Society offers the Family Child Care for Volunteers Program.  Family members that volunteer may be eligible for up 16 hours of free childcare.

Subsidy Program
Please call 606-3255 for program information. Families eligible for the subsidy program include those with children ages infant through 5 years old.
